BYLAWS

The Medford Rifle & Pistol Club, Inc.


Article I

Name

The name of the organization shall be the 
Medford Rifle and Pistol Club, Inc.


Article II

Objectives

The objectives of the organization are as follows:

1.	To promote organized rifle and pistol shooting among 
citizens of the United States;
2.	To provide said citizens with the knowledge of safe 
handling and proper care of firearms;
3.	To improve marksmanship;
4.	To promote the development of honesty, good 
fellowship, self-discipline, team play 
and self-reliance which are the essentials of good 
sportsmanship and the foundations 
of true patriotism.


Article III

Membership

1.	Any citizen of the United States eighteen 
years of age and older may become a registered member on 
vote of the executive committee and payment of dues.
2.	Spouses and children of registered members living 
in the same household shall also be considered members.
3.	Any member eighteen years of age and older may 
vote and hold office in the organization.
4.	Non-members under the age of twenty-one may 
participate in the junior program upon payment of a 
junior membership fee. Junior members may use club 
facilities only when participating in an official 
event or practice session and may not vote or hold office.
5.	Any member of at least thirty years standing in the 
club shall be awarded lifetime membership.
   
Article IV

Dues

1.	The annual dues of the organization shall be 
decided at the annual meeting each year and shall be 
payable on or before the first day of January each 
year. Prorating of dues shall be in accordance with a 
method devised by the Executive Committee and approved 
by the membership.

Violations

1.	Charges against a member for violation of the 
Bylaws or rules shall be presented to the Executive 
Committee in writing. The Executive Committee shall 
investigate the charges and if a violation of the bylaws 
or rules appears to have occurred will inform the accused 
member of the charges. The accused member shall then have 
the right to submit to the Executive Committee a written 
defense and to appear before a meeting of said Committee. 
If a violation of the bylaws or rules is found have occurred, 
the matter shall then be reported to the organization. Final 
disposition shall be made by two-thirds vote of members present. 
Voting shall be by ballot.

Article VI
Officers

1.	The officers of the organization shall be a 
President, Vice President/Executive Officer, Secretary, 
Treasurer and one Director from each shooting program.
2.	All officers shall be members in good standing of the 
National Rifle Association.
3.	The officers of the organization shall constitute 
the Executive Committee.
4.	Officers shall be elected by majority ballot vote in 
December and shall hold office for one year.
5.	The term of office shall commence with the first 
monthly meeting in January and end with the last 
monthly in December.

Duties of the Officers

1.	The President shall preside at all meetings of the 
organization. He shall preserve order and decorum and 
perform all duties consistent with the office. He will 
appoint all standing committee. The president shall have 
the right of decision at all times during the conduct of 
all committee business whenever such business may conflict 
with the rules or policies of the organization. The President 
shall vote on all ties.
2.	The Vice-President shall familiarize with all activities 
of the organization and, in the absence of the President, 
shall assume the duties of President.
3.	The secretary shall notify the members of all meetings. 
He shall keep a true record of all meetings of the 
organization and of the Executive Committee. He shall have 
custody of the records and papers of the club and shall 
conduct all correspondence. All applications for membership 
shall be made direct to the Secretary. He shall be 
responsible for the collection of all dues and shall remit 
same to the Treasurer.
4.	The treasurer shall have charge of all funds of the 
club and place same in such bank or banks as may be approved 
by the executive committee. Such money shall only be withdrawn by 
checks signed by the treasurer and for payment of such bills 
as shall have been approved by the executive committee. 
He shall keep account of all transactions and make a detailed 
report with vouchers, at each meeting and whenever requested 
by the executive committee. His books shall be audited annually 
at the direction of the President and a report submitted to the 
membership at the annual meeting.
5.	The Directors of the various shooting disciplines shall:
	A.	Schedule and supervise matches;
	B.	Maintain and account for all equipment assigned to them;
	C.	Coordinate all activities with other club functions;
	D.	Collect all range and match fee;
	E.	Maintain all financial records;
	F.	Submit match results to the appropriate body (e.g. NRA)

Article VII

Vacancies

1.   A vacancy in the office of President shall be filled 
by the Vice President.
2.	All vacancies other than President shall be filled by 
the Executive Committee via appointment.

Article VIII
Parliamentary Authority

1.	All meetings shall be conducted in accordance 
with Robert's Rules of Order.

Article IX

Meetings

1.	A monthly meeting shall be held on a schedule 
approved by the executive committee.
2.	A majority vote of the members present shall be 
necessary for the transaction of business.

Article X

Amendments

1.	Any Proposed amendments to these bylaws shall be 
submitted to the members, by mail, at least fifteen days 
prior to the next scheduled meeting.
2.	Proposed amendments shall be voted on at the 
meeting following the mailed announcement. A majority 
vote of the members present at the meeting shall be 
necessary to amend the bylaws.
